Guide

The fastest way to build a website with AI

Lumen turns a single sentence into a fully designed, production-ready website. This guide walks first-time users from idea to a live URL in about a minute.

1. Distill your idea into one sentence

Great output starts with a sharp prompt. Tell Lumen who the site is for, what it should show, and the mood you want. Examples like "Minimal portfolio for a Tokyo-based film photographer," "Dark, futuristic landing page for an AI note-taking app," or "Mobile wedding invite for Mina & Joon on September 14" already pack audience, purpose, and tone into a single line. Three to five vivid words almost always beat a long paragraph — concrete nouns and a clear vibe give the model something specific to design around.

2. Hit Generate and watch it appear

When you submit a prompt, Lumen produces the HTML, CSS, and any interactions you need in a single pass. The preview panel renders the result instantly, exactly as a browser would, and the Code tab lets you inspect or download the standalone HTML file at any time. If something feels off, just describe the change in plain English — "darken the hero background," "add a three-tier pricing section," "switch to a serif display font" — and Lumen edits the previous version instead of starting from scratch.

3. Deploy to a public URL in one click

Press Deploy and your design is published to a shareable address like /s/your-slug. Re-deploying with the same slug updates the site in place, so iterating after launch feels effortless. There is no server to configure and no hosting plan to sign up for; you can send the link to a client or a friend immediately, and connect a custom domain later when you are ready to put it under your own brand.

4. Free to use

Lumen is free to try — describe your idea, generate a site, and publish it without a credit card. No paid plans, no billing, no paywalls in the way of shipping your first page.

5. Small tips that make a big difference

First, lock in the palette with one or two mood words — "warm beige and cream," "neon cyberpunk," "pastel gradient" — to keep the design coherent. Second, list the sections you actually need, such as "hero + three features + pricing + FAQ + footer," so nothing gets skipped. Third, when the first result is close but not perfect, iterate with focused edits rather than regenerating from scratch; you will reach a polished version faster and the design will stay consistent.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often from people getting started with Lumen.

Do I need to know how to code?+

No. Describe the site you want in a single sentence and Lumen handles the design, layout, colors, typography, and interactions for you. You never have to open an editor, but if you want to, the Code tab lets you download the generated HTML and tweak it by hand.

Who owns the sites I generate?+

You do. Anything you create from your prompts is yours to use commercially, host elsewhere, or modify however you like. Downloaded HTML files have no runtime dependency on Lumen.

Does Lumen work well in languages other than English?+

Yes. Lumen understands prompts in Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, and many other languages, and it picks fonts that pair well with each script. If you want a specific vibe, mention it — for example, 'modern Korean sans-serif similar to Pretendard.'

How many edits can I make to one site?+

As many as your credits allow. Edits run on top of the previous version instead of starting over, so each round of feedback brings the design closer to what you want without losing the parts you already liked.

Can I connect a custom domain?+

Yes. Deployed sites can be mapped to a domain you already own, and the Studio plan includes credits toward purchasing a new domain through Lumen directly.

What about performance and SEO?+

Each site ships as a single, self-contained HTML file, so it loads almost instantly. Semantic tags, meta descriptions, and Open Graph metadata are included by default, which keeps the result friendly to both search engines and social platforms.
